Listening to: Here We Go Jack by Vulfmon
Genre: Funk
Year:2022
Now I know I said I was gonna for a double album, but I found myself focusing more on myself today by doing absolutely nothing and decided audio would also be out for a while. And that’s one of the things that I promised myself about audio now is that, if I don’t feel like it, I don’t have to force myself into it. I’m not obligated to work on OB ODIO every single day, or I’d get burnt out again. So, anyway, here’s my last-minute album cus I at least wanna output 1 album per day like I promised, regardless of whether I take a break from audio or not.
And for today’s album. It’s Vulf again! This time, Vulfmon’s 2022 record, “Here We Go, Jack”. As this is our first foray into the Vulfmon, let me give some context.
Vulfmon is Jack Stratton’s “alter-ego” which is a fancy way of saying that this is his personal work outside of Vulfpeck. I’ve been following Vulfmon since the release of “How Much Do You Love Me” which came out on YouTube first before Vulfmon even had a Spotify. They only posted on Vulf’s YouTube which always came with very interesting music videos.
Many tracks in the record do come with a nice music video, but one theme is that al(most)l of them have this studio feel. And listening to the album you kinda get the feel that this is definitely something more personal compared to the often bombastic Vulfpeck.
Each track feels like a hand tossed pizza from your local pizza parlor. I never felt overwhelmed with any track and each track is riddled with personality that you don’t usually find in finer and more mastered tracks.
That doesn’t mean that this sounds amateur, however. I absolutely loved the instrumentation in tracks like Alone Again, Naturally and Let’s Go! Let’s Go. From a lush, soulful track to a song you’d hear in happy compilations in movies. It’s an absolutely beautiful mix of tones of love and power that’ll get you through the day.
My total absolutely unbiased scoring:
Vibe: 8/10
Flow: 7/10
Mixing: 5/10
Complexity: 2/10
Consistency: 6/10
Emotional Factor: 7/10
Replayability: 7/10
