Listening to: When I Look Into Your Eyes by Diana Krall
Genre: Vocal Jazz
Year: 1999
I’ve always seen Diana Krall being in the front of many Jazz best ofs, but I never really took the time to dive in as I felt like I wasn’t ready to listen to her yet. But against all odds, I decided that the best time to listen to Diana was during a commute with my trusty KZ ZSN Pro 2 just to get a feel for the album. And boy, did I not regret it.
But I told myself, Diana Krall deserved better. So the moment I went home, popped open the case of my Simgot EA1000 and my R6 III and started my second (technically third) session of Diana Krall.
And what can I say, this record is even more amazing. Diana Krall’s 1999 record exudes so much richness in instrumentation paired with her amazing vocal performance. This 54-minute record is a chill but deep listen, perfect for someone who loves records that sound good both during a commute and when critical listening.
My first foray into Diana Krall was definitely a great one. I need to relisten to this again in the future as the day has been very busy and I couldn’t fully indulge and focus on just the album. But rest assured, this is an amazing record.
