Hey yo! I just unboxed the HiBy Yvain and I’d like to share my first impressions with you!
So the HiBy Yvain is a $239 4BA set from HiBy that boasts a 3-way way electronic crossover as well as focus on monitoring over the usual consumer-oriented sets.
As for inclusions, HiBy never fails to provide a solid set of accessories from a really big carrying pouch to a surprisingly functional modular cable. It also comes with a lot of tips, including a plethora of foamies!
As of the build, it’s pretty nice! It’s a resin inner shell and a metal faceplate with a really cool design. But probably the most stand out feature is how snug it fits and how good it isolates. HiBy flexed that this had really good isolation, and I’m here to tell you that is absolutely true. It’s at the cost of lack of venting, but that adds to the isolation.
The modular cable is one of the most functional modular cables I’ve seen as it screws on the jack instead of just plugging it in. That’s honestly so cool because I’m less worried of the modular sliding function going loose in the future.
As for sound, this is by far the most midcentric IEM I’ve ever heard. So much so that I was reminded of earbuds due to how focused the midrange is. There’s so much nuance and focus on the midrange that it kind of gives this really wide-sounding stage and holographic imaging effect that I’ve never heard in IEMs prior. It’s definitely not a set for those who are looking for a bassy or sparkly set, but a set that puts the mids first and the rest after. It’s a super unique-sounding set!
