NF Audio is slowly coming back into the lime light, this time flaunting their expectedly high quality builds and energetic sound with the RA15. This is a $79 single DD found in the NF NA2+ and detachable nozzle. As an NA2+ and NM2+ enjoyer, I was dearly anticipating how the RA15 would compare.
One thing that stayed consistent is the unboxing experience. I LOVE the orange and black color scheme of the packaging and reminds me of the NA2+’s packaging. Granted, they are both under the music series so the similarities make sense. Where I’m not as impressed with is the inclusions. MS42 is great an all, but the leather bag ain’t gonna cut it especially with the nozzles.
Thankfully, the build is just as pristine and high quality like their more expensive sets. Fit is also better than their older sets while keeping the high quality construction and that protruding that I was expecting to feel cheap. I’m still not a fan of that as it’s more prone to breaking than the flush or recessed 2-pin, but it’s better than your usual protruding connector.
What I’m glad NF Audio kept in this set is their distinctive bright v-shaped sound signature. It’s not common for companies nowadays to follow trends to be “relevant” in the saturated in-ear market. However, NF Audio isn’t one of those companies and doubled down on their unique sound signature. Unlike the older, more expensive NA2+, they gave the RA15 a thicker, richer low end while keeping it tight and clean. The mids are a little bit more open than its predecessor while keeping the energetic and detailed treble found in their older sets. The highlight on this set is definitely that energetic treble that is not afraid to give trebleheads a wet dream and treblets a nightmare.
Nonetheless, the RA15 is NF Audio showing that they can provide the market a fun and bright sound in a price range that is usually saturated with predictable tuning and features.
