And to finally close off the trilogy, we head to their cheapest set to date, the $100 Reference 2019. If the name gives any clue to what this IEM is based on, you’re probably right on the money. But let’s see what this DSP infused IEM can give to the market.
First, the unboxing experience is something I’ve grown to appreciate from Intuaura. They don’t skimp out on the accessories as they give you a nice case, eartips and complimentary accessories.
As for the build, a full metal construction with detachable nozzles isn’t something new. But the way that they executed this is quite unique. First, it’s a relatively thin but premium feeling metal shell that looks pretty cool with the Harman 2019 target printed on one of the ears. Second, that nozzle is a little longer than your usual detachable nozzles and is akin to the Sonicmemory IEMs. The cable is a little thin in comparison to the more expensive Intuaura products, but it’s unique due to the fact that it is a DSP cable. It’s perfectly usable, aesthetically pleasing and practical with the type-c end.
As for the sound, you really only get the DSP so I’ll talk about that. Rest assured, I will do a more in depth analysis of this with and without the DSP. As you might expect, this follows the Harman 2019 target curve that has become very famous in the last couple of years. And it sounds exactly like what a Harman IEM might sound like. Big low end with a leaner midrange and a forward upper frequency presentation that may or may not fit your tastes. Personally, I find the mids to just be a little too thin and the treble a little too aggressive, but I do feel like it has something to do with the DSP itself. Regardless, it does push details and clarity up and about unlike other sets in this price and the DSP is undoubtedly effective at achieving its goal of the Harman 2019 based on the measurements alone.
