First BTB back from China, and the first of the Intuaura’s that were kindly given to me during the show by Mr. Tang. Prior to this, I knew nothing about Intuaura. But after trying their stuff and finding out that they specialize in single DDs, I knew I had to talk about them. First in line, the $259 Intuaura Splendor II with a rather special quirk!
First, unboxing experience is lovely. It’s a pretty large box with a decent set of accessories for the price. I love how large the case is, which is needed as the Splendor II comes with a DSP cable made specifically for the Splendor II. More on that later.
As for the build, it’s a pretty basic resin construction with a VERY beautiful faceplate. I really love the dashes of purple, yellow and black and makes it a very aesthetically pleasing set. Nothing that is too mind blowing like the Kinera sets with the 3D topology-style faceplates, but a very good looking set. The cable is also quite impressive considering that it’s a rather beefy 8-core cable. Thankfully, each strand is pretty thin and malleable so I never experienced any kinks or memory.
As for the sound, this thing has 2 different tuning modes. Stock analogue and DSP. On stock analogue tuning, this thing is a slight V-Shaped tech beast with amazing low end tactility, clean and open midrange and a sparkly treble that is bordering on sounding a little too hot. The highlight of this set is definitely how mature and snappy the sound is while still sounding quite fun and engaging. But if you don’t like that fun and engaging tuning, Intuaura has provided you with the perfect solution in the form of the Phantasm DSP. This tones the bass and upper midrange considerably and makes this one of the best neutral-balanced set I’ve heard. Unfortunately, that mid treble peak was not smoothened out so you’ll hear a bit of sharpness there. Regardless, having the option for a fun v-shaped tuning and a mature balanced tuning is something that I don’t usually see brands offer and I’m all for it!
