Say good bye to NF Audio, say hello to NF Acous! And for their first product, we have the NM20. This beautiful piece of art is priced at $120 and is a single DD. Let’s see if this rebrand brings a brand new sound too!
I was a little worried that they’d lose their aesthetically pleasing packaging and branding. But boy, I could not have been more wrong. The NM20’s packaging is better than ever with cleaner and more distinct elements that truly makes this an NF Acous product.
But that’s not the only improvement as on top of the MS24 eartips, you also get a much better case than what came with the previous NM series of IEMs. Bigger, better and blacker. I love this
case so much.
One of the things I appreciate they brought back was the iconic pink of NM2 back in the day, but refined it to be more pastel and cuter. Another thing I appreciate they improved was the fit of their IEMs. The Nx2+ IEMs were a bit problematic in terms of its fit in my ear, but the NM20 has a more stable fit with better seal and comfort. The cable is unfortunately the same story, but I’m assuming they’d include better cables in line with their rebranding.
As for the sound, you get a brighter, edgier and more technically capable sound from any NF Acous IEM from the past. It’s bright, ridiculously bright and technical. Not for the faint of heart or anyone who listens to music higher than 50%. But for trebleheads and lower volume listening people, this is a very nifty set to bring out the sparkle without the distraction of the bass. The main concern I have here is just how bright this thing is. It feels almost undamped and raw with how its tuned and I cannot imagine that the NM20 would be on any list of “versatile” IEMs. But if I know one thing, this is an absolutely technical set that should be in any analytical lover’s repertoire.
Thank you for reading my behind the box impressions on the NM20. If you would like to order one, the NM20 will be released very soon so please stay tuned for the link
