BEHIND THE BOX: Faaeal Tulip

  • April 29, 2025

From the brand known for their pretty dope cables, Faaeal releases a new set under their flower series! The Tulip is a single DD IEM priced at around $100. Let’s see how this flower blooms!

The unboxing experience is just phenomenal. While the eartips is decent and fits the Tulip pretty decently, the case is the true highlight of the package. It’s spacious and has a dedicated slot for eartips. You can also remove the foam holder and have even more space! It’s so damn spacious that I think a small DAP like the R1 or Echo Mini would fit on one side and the IEMs on the other. Well, maybe not. But it’s very spacious!

The IEMs themselves are peculiar but very attractive. It almost looks like a tulip if you look at it at a certain angle! A bit of emphasis on peculiar because the position of the 2-pin is very, very weird. It almost reminds me of the Muse HiFi The East 6. Which scared me. Thankfully, my fears were unwarranted because it’s a decent fitting IEM. Some tip rolling might be needed, but it’s a decent fitting and sealing IEM. Another highlight is their Hibiscus Pro cable which, if you’ve known Faaeal for a while, their Hibiscus is one of the best budget cables in the market. The Pro improves upon the interface and all-in-all, looks pretty and fits the aesthetic of the IEM (at least the pink-ish variant) while staying comfortable and premium.

Having 0 experience with Faaeal IEMs, I had 0 expectations on how this thing would sound like. Which was great, because my enjoyment with the Tulips was a slow bloom. They sounded decent but felt like I needed more time to properly enjoy them. It’s a U-Shaped sound signature with a lot of bass and treble energy and a very engaging overall sound. It’s not overly detailed nor is it overly technical. It’s a fun, thumpy and energetic sounding IEM with decent texture and crispness. I will note that the lower treble can get a little hot and hard hitting to the point where it can sound fatiguing on certain genres. But all in all, it’s decent. Nothing too special, but not unlistenable crap either.
