Hello everyone! Let’s take an in depth look on the HiBy Yacht 10, HiBy’s latest single DD priced at $129 with their signature cybermecha design!
As you might expect from HiBy, the unboxing experienced is nuanced and decently accessorized. Not the best I’ve experienced in this price range, but it’s well-thought of and aesthetically pleasing. The case is a highlight as it’s very spacious and can carry more than just one IEM.
The earpieces themselves are so quirky and interesting looking. HiBy has really committed to the design that started with the R4. The Yacht 10 is particularly unique because I was able to see how the internals looked (without the driver) during my visit to the HiBy office. What I’m glad the Yacht 10 has is a decent fit despite its aesthetics. More often than not, quirky designs like this come at the sacrifice of fit. The cable is a basic but very effective modular cable.
As for the sound, I’ve seen people talk about the treble being quite edgy and sharp based on the frequency response and to a point, I can see where they’re coming from. The Yacht 10 is a very traditional V-Shaped sounding IEM with a decent emphasis on the upper mids without sounding overly shouty. However, the overall sound is very nuanced and detailed and it shows with how well-emphasized the tactility on the bass and its detail retrieval. For $129, this is an IEM with one of the best bass presentations I’ve heard under $150. The issue falls on the treble being a little edgy and causing a slightly “low res” sound due to the contrast of the mid treble and upper treble. It’s not terrible, but it’s not going to be a smooth listening experience. This is a perfect IEM to pair with energetic listening sessions with just how much character it has.
