BEHIND THE BOX: KZ EDC Pro

  • July 23, 2024

One of the most affordable series of KZ has just gotten its first pro set with the EDC Pro! This $15 set is quite interesting in a couple of ways, so let’s talk about it!

One aspect of the EDC Pro that is not very interesting is the unboxing. Giving KZ some credit, they are minimizing the footprint of their products by making the packaging smaller and more sustainable, so I respect that. But now, the IEMs along with the rest of accessories all come in a plastic wrapper.

I mentioned that the EDC Pro is an interesting set and the build is one of the reasons why. Unlike most of their modern sets using the usual extruded QDC connector, the EDC Pro instead uses a flushed B-Pin connector similar to the ones that came in the older EDX series of in-ear that was, in my opinion, the superior connector compared to QDC. This is a massive upgrade from the previous entry into the EDC series which were both fixed cables. The rest of the build and fit is your standard KZ plastic shell that isn’t going to win any awards.

As for the sound, KZ has been improving their new “balanced” tuning that they’ve honing for a couple of months now. The warm U-Shaped sound signature is something that I found to fit many genres and the EDC Pro has a solid tonal balance with decent enough technical ability to make it a pretty solid choice for the price. $15 might be a little a little too close to the fierce $20 segment, but I think it’s a step in the right direction for KZ in terms of tuning and connector. However, I will say that this is a massive upgrade from the EDC and EDC-X tuning that were both a little outdated compared to the sets KZ have been releasing recently.

Thank you for reading my impressions on the KZ EDC Pro.
