Hot on the heels! Literally, this thing is new and very energetic! The $120 NF Acous NA20 follows the NM20 as NF Acous’ second product post rebranding and it’s got a nice coat! Let’s see how it performs.
The unboxing is the same as the previous NM20 with the same improved carrying case, MS42 eartips and the big dong adapter. Additionally, ordering soon will give you the opportunity to get really cool stickers! These would look great on my laptop!
The build is also the same with the lightweight polycarbonate shell staying light and comfy in the ears. I still love that NF Acous found the right mold for fit and seal after the somewhat hard to fit and hard to seal Nx2+ series of IEMs. Where the difference begins is the new dark orange (almost chocolate colored) colorway and the music series MC2L-100M Dynamic Driver. The cable matches this new colorway and is I believe a first for NF Acous to include a colored cable on their Nx series of IEMs. Still the same kinda thin and not so premium cable, but at least there’s a different color way now!
And at last, the sound. The NA20 follows a similar philosophy to the NM20 with a super bright and revealing sound, but smoothens the treble and brings the bass up to make the NA20 a far more balanced set than the hyper analytical NM20. This makes the NA20 a very fun, bassy and engaging sounding set that does not compromise what makes the Nx20 series of IEMs great. It’s not quite as detailed or technical as the NM20, but it’s not far off and it holds true to the NF Acous tuning philosophy. Obviously, that also means that this is still far from neutral because of how aggressive both ends are. But arguably the highlight here, like the NM20, is just how good they implemented the MC2L-100 series driver. It’s such a capable driver and the NA20 showcases its potential perfectly. Extremely resolving but still somehow avoids sounding grainy or forced. Even $200 single DD IEMs struggle with staying resolving without sounding forced or rough. Goes to show that NF Acous is truly improving and getting grips with their new and improved dynamic drivers.
