NiceHCK is one of the companies that I’ve been aware of for quite a while but never really got to delve into. Not until now because I finally got to try their $99 14.2mm planar IEM named F1 Pro! This set has been released for quite some time, so let’s see how it holds up!
One thing I can appreciate NiceHCK doing for their IEMs is providing a good unboxing experience. I got to try the DB2 a while back and I thought that the accessory inclusion was pretty good. The same can be said for the F1 Pro and I really enjoyed that pleather case.
As for the build, this reminds me of the older aluminum CNC milled shells that many planar IEMs like the S12 and Timeless used back in the day. Least to say, it feels good and looks damn good with that blue and gold. The cable is a little weird because it feels like it wasn’t made for the IEM, but it’s well built and pretty damn comfy.
As for the sound, this is what I’d call a very planar sounding IEM. Tight attack, energetic sound and a focus on techs over tonality. The bass goes decently deep, but doesn’t linger for too long and just gently rattles your ears. The mids are open and spacious but also quite thin and occasionally recessed. And that treble, oh boy. Sparkle and shimmer for days on end, but treble sensitives beware. Insanely technical set with superb separation and layering, although dynamic presentation could be better. It harkens to the good old days during the early planar wars and how everyone was trying to out brighten everyone. It was fun times, but times that a lot of people would like to forget.
