You might be wondering why I placed these two IEMs into once BTB, and that’s because they’re basically the same IEM with the DSP slightly toning the midbass and treble on both nozzles. So I thought it would be more efficient to just put them into two.
But don’t let that take away from the greatness that is this $69/$79 beast! The EW300 is Simgot pushing the multidriver trend into their budget and is one of the cheapest piezo-planar hybrid in the market right now.
Another aspect that Simgot has decided to spice up the EW300 is the unboxing. Moving away from their arts and science based themes, the EW300 boasts a seemingly Love, Death and Robots inspired aesthetic with the X and heart on the material. Internally, it’s the same story as their older sets with the familiar pleather case and 07 style eartips.
Aesthetically, the EW300 DSP in particular is the most unique Simgot set to date as it is the only Simgot IEM to be all metal and feature a unique matte black finish that stands out from the familiar glossy metal of the base EW300. I LOVE this finish, but I’m a little worried that it’d chip faster than other paint finishes. The detachable nozzle combines the inner shell design and comfort of the EW200 and EA500 family of IEMs. Least to say, it’s comfy but lacks stability and could seal a little better.
Sonically, the EW300 is what you’d expect from Simgot in terms of technical ability and refinement, but tone down the overall tonality to be on the warmer side. The bass is rich, warm and engaging. The mids are crisp and open with good nuance and the treble, while smooth, is still detailed and snappy with good transients and air. The metallic timbre is unfortunately a little audible, especially on brighter tracks, but keeps it to a minimum thanks to the contrast in the bass.
The pink nozzle takes that tonality and makes it even warmer and focuses on the low end more while keeping that superb technical ability and refined sound.
The DSP on the other hand affects the midbass to be tighter and the treble to be tamer with a more gradual roll off compared to the analogue version.
It’s honestly insane how Simgot keeps pushing the boundaries for every single release they have and I’m very excited to see how they continue with their 2024 pipeline coming to an end with the EW300.
