My first ZiiGaat set! I’ve been fascinated with ZiiGaat products for a while and the Lush seems to be their most “interesting” set to date with a very tame and toned down presentation.
Unfortunately, it seems like the unboxing experience was affected by the “lushness” of the product because it’s honestly quite disappointing. The highlight is the case which is problematic because of how hard it is to open and close. The eartips are meh, especially those pathetic foam eartips.
The Lush is your typical large resin built IEM with a non-removable metal nozzle. Its larger size can be quite problematic for people with smaller ears and the lack of inner shell wings means stability is not its strong suit. I found it to slide off my ear quite frequently and requires meticulous tip rolling to get the best fit. The cable is straight up garbage. It feels so cheap and it’s so thin and tangle prone. Not the kind of cable I imagine would come from a $170 IEM.
Thankfully, the sound makes up for all those cons (sorta). The Lush is, currently, the most affordable “reference” IEM that I’ve heard in the literal sense. It’s an IEM that is not fun, technical or analytical. It presents everything in the mix in a linear and smooth fashion, following its namesake. Let me reiterate. It’s not a fun IEM, but an IEM that will play back almost everything you play with a “reference-like” playback. I haven’t heard an IEM achieve this level of linearity since the Softears Studio 4 which is over twice its price and the Mystic 8 which is even more expensive. The obvious downside is the somewhat lackluster technical ability and presentation, but its technical enough to handle complex breakdowns without sounding cheap or low-res. Not a set for trebleheads, bassheads or people looking for a musical IEM. But damn if it isn’t the first IEM that comes to mind when someone asks for a reference-neutral set without breaking the bank.
