POLARIZINGLY GOOD! CCA Polaris Impressions

  • October 27, 2023
  • kesobie
While I do want to commend the Polaris for being a fantastic value set, it does not try to reinvent the wheel in any way which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It's a decently tuned sub $20 set with tuning switches that do more than enough to add variation to its sound that is pretty safe to recommend to most people. While it may have a little bit of vocal intensity and lack of overall refinement, it continues to lower the bar for good audio at a low price.

Simgot EA1000 Impressions: PEAK SIMGOT!

  • October 26, 2023
  • kesobie
I have so much more I want to say about the EA1000, but I want to keep these impressions short because this is a set that I’m genuinely impressed by. Sets nowadays seem to be a little bit stale and uninspiring with certain exceptions, and the EA1000 is one of those exceptions. It’s no perfect set, but it’s the closest to perfect in my book under $300.

CCA Pianist Impressions: SPARKLE IN EVERY NOTE!

  • October 21, 2023
  • kesobie
But that emphasis on the treble is what makes the Pianist such an interesting set. It’s no perfect treble set, even if I do hype it up to be as such. It’s far from being perfect. But for treble lovers who want an unhinged treble presentation and do not care about anything else, the Pianist is the instrument of choice.

KZ Castor (Bass ver.) Impressions: Impressively Clean

  • October 1, 2023
  • kesobie
The Castor Bass Improved, also known as the Black is a set for those who love a lot of subbass and hates midbass. As a matter of fact, this is a must-buy for those who love a Harman-style tuned set with subbass emphasis, not a lot of midbass, and a lot of upper mids to treble to boot. It’s a genuinely fun, borderline bass-head set with a surprisingly clean and open sound for less than $20, but it can definitely use just a little bit more midbass presence. Just a little bit.

Yanyin Canon II Impressions: Quite a Surprise…

  • September 24, 2023
  • kesobie
But in short, if you were to ask me in Q3 of 2023 what my favorite IEM that I’ve tried is, I can confidently tell you that it’s the Yanyin Canon II. I can’t tell you without going into a really really deep explanation why I like it so much. But all I can tell you is that this IEM has hit the right spots in my preference more than anything I’ve tried this year. It’s just a genuinely amazing set for my tastes.

LETSHUOER EJ07M Impressions: Jack of All-Trades

  • September 9, 2023
  • kesobie
What the EJ07M lacks in flair makes up for in sheer inoffensiveness. It’s a very smooth yet well-balanced u-shaped set that neither shakes your buzzoms nor strips your music to its fundamentals. It’s a well-tuned, balanced set that regardless of what you throw, will play it with absolute certainty and enjoyability.

CCA DUO Impressions: BRINGING THE CLEAR IN CCA

  • September 2, 2023
  • kesobie
The Duo brings the Clean in CCA. Not only in its lineup, but in it’s literal namesake. Clear Concept Audio takes two dynamics into one lean and mean set. A rather rare sight nowadays with the emergence for balanced or u-shaped sets following Harman and the like, yet respectable in how it was presented. A perfect set for lean, female vocal and trebleheads on a budget that is fine with KZ’s usual barebones presentation. Just avoid the marketing at all costs, I guess.

TINHiFi C0, “ELF” Impressions: TINHIFI IS BACK!

  • August 30, 2023
  • kesobie
On my first few hours of listening, I can confidently say that these are quite a fun and energetic set for those who like an intimate vocal presentation and a little bit of treble spice

KBEar KW1 Impressions: Elegantly Unhinged.

  • August 24, 2023
  • kesobie
The KW1 is confidently the Meze 99 classic in IEM form. On the outside, it shows itself as a classy, distinguished fellow. But deep down, this is a hard rocker sniffing powder down under. It’s a ludicrous amount of bass, probably too much. But I know for certain that someone out there with a desire for the dirtiest bass will adore this classy beast.
